Regenon is a weight loss medication used in the short term for treatment of obesity. Its generic name is diethylpropion and it is designed to be used for up to four weeks alongside proper diet and physical exercise to help start the weight loss process for people who have been unsuccessful in losing weight without assistance.

It is not useful past the first few weeks of a weight loss program because the effects tend to taper off past then. It belongs to a class of drugs called anorexics, which means that they suppress the appetite and help you to eat less while you are learning new and healthier ways to maintain your weight. As with all medications, Regenon may cause some side effects. Other side effects that are not as serious include tremors, restlessness, nervousness, anxiety, headache, dizziness, inability to sleep, dry mouth, diarrhea, constipation, impotence or changes in your libido.

Some people should not take Regenon. If you have heart disease or hypertention, hard arteries, glaucoma, are taking MAO-inhibitors, or have a history of addictions such as drug or alcohol abuse, you should not take Regenon.

Before you take Regenon, you should tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems, an anxiety disorder, a seizure disorder such as epilepsy, or diabetes. People with these conditions should take extra precautions when taking Regenon; you may have to take a lower dose or be monitored by your doctor during your treatment.

Other conditions should be reported to your doctor before you begin a course of treatment with Regenon. If you have ever had any allergic reactions to amphetamine, dextroamphetamine, ephedrine, terbutaline, pseudoephedrine, epinephrine, isoproterenol, phenylpropanolamine, phenylephrine, metaproterenol, methamphetamine, noradrenaline, or the ingredients of any other weight loss drug.

You should also tell your doctor if you have a history of alcohol or drug abuse, diabetes, epilepsy, mental illness, glaucoma, heart disease, high blood pressure, a thyroid condition, or kidney disease, which can cause more serious side effects.

Pregnant women should not take Regenon, because it can cause the baby to be born addicted and to suffer withdrawal symptoms. If it is taken at high doses, it can cause birth defects. It should also not be taken by those who are breastfeeding babies, since it passes into breast milk. It is not recommended for children under the age of 15. It is not known whether people over the age of 65 react differently to Regenon than to others.
